Fighting Hunger & Poverty with One Million Meals
Why One Million Meals?
Although it has been over a year since the COVID-19 pandemic hit Malaysia, the underprivileged in Malaysia are still suffering from its economic blow. Faced with prolonged Movement Control Order (MCO) earlier this year, more people are losing their livelihood, making hunger and poverty more prevalent than ever.
Responding to the need of the situation, After Feed to Educate initiative in 2020, Charity Right Malaysia expanded its initiatives and has developed 3 more projects in 2021: Forgotten Jewels, Reaching Rural and TGIF: Thank God, It’s Food! This way, we hope to change the future of underprivileged children by providing education and fighting hunger among the impoverished groups in Malaysia with one meal at a time.
Thus, the “One Million Meals” campaign was born to support our initiatives and this campaign will run from 6 April – 13 May 2021. In line with the Ramadan period, the season of giving for the Muslims, we aim to raise one million meals to feed the hungry and to uplift the underprivileged from poverty.
FEED THE HUNGRY FOR AS LITTLE AS RM 1.25!
Every month, our beneficiaries will receive a food box filled with nutritious food items. Each food box costs RM 150 and it could feed a family of four for a month.
1 Food Box = RM150
RM150 = 1 meal per day x 30 days x 4 persons
RM150 = 120 meals
Therefore, the cost per meal is,
RM150/120 meals = RM1.25 per meal
For as little as RM12.5, you can sponsor 10 meals this Ramadan!
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said “Sadaqah extinguishes sin as water extinguishes fire,” (Hadith, Tirmidhi). He also said that Allah offers relief on the Day of Judgement for those who give sadaqah: “The believer’s shade on the Day of Resurrection will be their charity,” (Hadith, Tirmidhi).
