Nourishing Malawi: A Lifeline of Hope
A Team365 Campaign by Sheikh Bilal Ismail

"The best of people are those who bring the most benefit to others." – Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ)

Assalamu’alaikum, dear brothers and sisters,

Every night, our children go to bed with full stomachs, safe and secure, their biggest worry being which bedtime story to pick. But in Malawi, thousands of children fall asleep hungry—weak from malnutrition, their parents watching helplessly as food supplies run out.

A Crisis We Cannot Ignore

Malawi isn’t a warzone, yet its children are fighting for survival. Back-to-back disasters—deadly cyclones, droughts, and failed crops—have left families with nothing. Hunger isn’t just an empty stomach here; it’s the reason children struggle to focus in school, why they fall behind, and why many never escape poverty. Some don’t even make it to their fifth birthday.

🚨 4% of children in Malawi die before the age of five due to malnutrition.
🚨 1 in 3 people in Malawi are facing extreme hunger.

If this were your child, your niece, or your little neighbor—what would you do?

Why This Matters

More than 70% of Malawi’s population lives in poverty, surviving on less than RM763 a year. The devastation caused by Cyclone Freddy has only made things worse, leaving thousands at risk.

But food is their answer.

A simple, nourishing meal at school can give these children the strength to grow, learn, and build a better future. With regular school meals, they won’t just survive—they’ll thrive.

A Personal Call to Action

Growing up in South Africa, I’ve witnessed the struggles of African communities firsthand. As an educator and humanitarian, I believe that knowledge and action go hand in hand. Malawi is close to my heart, and I invite you to stand with me in supporting these children.

We may not be able to change the entire world, but we can change the world for one child at a time.
